Bio

Sheryl Murakami has been dancing and performing since the age of 5. She is a Los Angeles native who has trained extensively in classical ballet while also studying tap, jazz and later branching out into hip hop and salsa. At age 16 she started dancing professionally in TV, Film, and for numerous recording artists.

Living over 15 years in NYC, Sheryl continued dancing while building her teaching career. She formed her own dance company and honed her choreography skills. In time, Sheryl became one of NYC’s most respected choreographers and as the industry took notice of her iconic style, she was discovered by Beyonce.

Sheryl choreographed three music videos for BEYONCE, including: “EGO”, “WHO RUN THE WOLRD”, and “DANCE FOR YOU”. She also is credited as co-directing with BEYONCE for the ”EGO” music video.

Miss Murakami received an MTV VMA AWARD in 2011 for “BEST CHOREOGRAPHY IN MUSIC VIDEO” for BEYONCE “WHO RUN THE WORLD”.

Other choreography credits include: PITBULL World Tour 2017 “Climate Change”, ZION Y LENNOX Tour 2017, NICKY JAM “El Amonte” Latin Billboards 2017, Interscope’s KAT GRAHAM, “Put your Graffiti On Me” music video, KPOP Sensation 2NE1 “I love you”, Mercury Music’s UK pop star PIXIE LOTT’S video “What Are You Waiting For”, and music videos for Taiwan’s super divas JOLIN TSAI, and ELVA HSAO, just to name a few.

Miss Murakami has been a guest choreographer for Lifetime’s Dance TV Show “BRING IT”, Freeform TV series “ALONE TOGETHER”, ABC’s “DANCING WITH THE STARS”, and guest judge and choreographer on Russia’s Popular Dance Show “TNTANCY”.

Additional choreography credits include, NJ NETS, NY KNICKS, LA CLIPPERS, national commercials for MAYBELLINE, and industrials for AXE, Maxim, Puma, and Heineken.

Sheryl has created her own unique style of dance. It is culmination of many years of hard work and knowing what really works. Her strong athletic technique fuses jazz-funk and pop. Sheryl’s signature style and lines capture the strength of feminine sexuality and power. Her expertise in all forms of dance have enabled her to guest teach and choreograph nationally and internationally. Miss Murakami can currently be found teaching at the world renowned Broadway Dance Center in New York City, and The Edge in LA. Sheryl currently resides in LA.
